The Possible Republican Politics of the new Frankford Junction Station - 1900

1886 Ward 25 Map
- Frankford Avenue north from Eire (Castor) Ave. to Wheatsheaf Lane

I see politics at work here. Wheatsheaf Lane a major street and the FKD Jct Station at ground level as a major building. Then they cut Wheatsheaf Lane into the off beaten path by putting up a foot bridge in 1899 over the tracks in anticipation of not putting in any underpasses on the R.R. in the near future there. And Foederer runs for Congress in 1900 as an at large rep not tied to any geography which makes him a player for anybody with bucks and an agenda. The old station and Wheatsheaf Lane go in favor of endorsement from a major local Republican player of George L Horn who sells half his property for a school and owns access to the new unbuilt Fkd Jct station at Fkd Ave and Butler and right in front of the new unofficial Ward Republican club on Butler across the way from the new station that visitors can easily travel through and not be in vicinity of a stinky leather factory, my grandmorher used to work in one, as the Leather Workers Club. No doubt the second story rooms would be smoked filled and a place for Rep. Foederer to make deals in. From the 1886 Ward 25 map. Just saying. And then Bobby Foederer could catch the local home to another station at the back door of his estate in Torresdale.
